Darwells work focuses on the birds that visit his garden.

The aim of Darwells work is to move away from the traditional perspective of bird photography and instead look at the mysterious and precarious world birds occupy.

 A world full of dangers from both predators and disease,and one in which each day becomes a fight for survival.

The images are meant to convey these sensibilities and reflect not only the birds struggle for existence but also on how the images become a metaphor for the wider sense of our survival in an increasingly unstable and uncertain world.
